Dodge Baguet
The whole process is a lot of fun from the design to the drive and I recommend everyone has a go.
The Inspiration Car
I've like the style of some pre-war cars since about 2017, before that I only wanted to modify them and turn them into wild hotrods. I liked the shape of the Dodge Baguet so I used that as my inspiration car.
The Chassis
The chassis is a custom fabrication from 2mm steel and some box section for cross members.
Running Gear & Engine Choice
I haven't modified or tweeked anything since the original build, just added more trinkets. Though I have replaced the original engine as it was getting tired after many many hours of being thrashed.
The Body
The Body is mainly aluminium, ply wood and an old welding mask. To keep costs down a lot of parts were either hand made or second hand. Most of the trinketry is made up of bits and bobs laying aroung the garage and probably arn't automotive related.
What’s the least and most favourite part of the build?
Building the engines is one of my favourite parts of the build.
How long did it take to build?
The build took just under 6 months and just over £600.00
How does it drive?
When being driven at lightning speeds it handles just like a modern formula 1 car (thanks to the Differential I made) but on skinny tyres and leaf spring suspension. The rear suspension makes it real comfy.
The whole process is a lot of fun from the design to the drive and I recommend everyone has a go.
