Awards and Trophies
Stan Cup
The Stan Cup is awarded annually for promoting Cyclekarting in GB and in particular, for encouraging others to join in and keep going. It is not a competition and is awarded by the current holder to someone whose contribution they want to recognise. It can’t be awarded to the same person more than once.
In the spirit of Cyclekarting, the trophy, created by Stefan Nahajski, is made from a piston from a knackered petrol strimmer and a lump of mahogany rescued from the woodpile at a holiday cottage. Stefan named the award after his dad, an engineer at Ford, who was always making or fixing something.
The awarder should arrange a plaque with the recipient’s name and year on (home-made plaques are encouraged of course).
Previous holders of the Stan Cup:
2019 Graham Hill – for arranging our first meetings, and working with suppliers
2020 Marek Nahajski – for his videos and photos of events
2021 Adrian Gosling – for sharing his CK Builders Guide
2022 Jim Tanner – for always being willing to help, share his technical expertise and for boundless enthusiasm
2023 Andy Boulton – for developing the CKGB Website and other Club Communication material
2024 Chris Loader – for developing CKGB in the South West, general enthusiasm and the promotion of the hobby at many events across the UK.
Maybug Medal
The Maybug Medal, lovingly designed, crafted and donated by Mr Geoff May, is an individual Sprint Challenge Trophy and its big and shiny!
If a meeting is deemed suitable, the Maybug Medal will be held. This is Cyclekarting, so the Trophy is awarded in the spirit of fun, not serious competition.
The trophy is awarded to the winner on the day of the event. It’s not for the mantlepiece, it’s for proudly cradling on the day for a big smiling photograph.
The inaugural event on 11th August 2020 did involve some misadventure but nonetheless, Mr Bill Alexander was a very worthy recipient.
Previous winners are:
The log of previous winners is currently secured behind scaffolding around Graham’s garage
so we’ll update this section just as soon as Graham takes his scaffolding down!
The Cyclekart World Championship
The CKWC is organised by Carlos Carneiro in the USA. It’s a competition that recognises all sorts of events and does a fantastic job of bringing together Cyclekarters from all over the world. Each country defines its own local events and Cyclekarts get points for their success.
For such a relaxed formula, it’s fun to see the world rankings change through the season and the last-minute rush to take the title is always entertaining.
Hall of Fame
Cyclekarting is a worldwide community, and we all benefit from the promotion and development of the hobby/sport.
In 2021, we recognised the following people for their contributions to Cyclekarting:
Dennis Thomas: For the videos that share the details of his builds. They’ve inspired, informed and entertained us and even ended up as family viewing. “Movin’ on”
Kelly Wood: For creating the Huntsville GP, for regular updates about his builds on social media and for pushing the boundaries of repurposing in Cyclekart builds.
Carlos Carneiro: For creating the Cyclekart World Championship and Corona Challenge in times when the world seemed to be determined to divide us.
Steve Vinson: For his accessible build videos that leave you feeling, “I think I could do that”.
Adam Arndt: For encouraging young people in Cyclekarting, not just at his school, but by taking the time to notice and encourage what other young people are doing in the world of Cyclekarting.

Cyclekart - Austin 7 Special - Supercharged
I am fascinated by early pioneers of motorsport and manufacturers getting on board like Herbert Austin. In particular, this small but such a successful little car with so many versions including vans was a huge hit both on the road and especially in racing.
