VSCC 90th Birthday Celebrations Review 2024
2024 saw the 90th anniversary of the amazing VSCC. This is THE club, worldwide, for our inspiration cars, and they promote the full-on use of these amazing vehicles through various activities. For their 90th Anniversary they had hired Stratford Upon Avon horse racing course and campsite for a full week of activities.
Our club was honoured to be invited to attend and display at the main day of the event, which was Saturday 10th August. CKGB had its own dedicated paddock and grass oval, and another grand turnout of 18 Cyclekarts and 19 drivers. After the very long pit lane at Malvern, the Cyclekarts were now arranged into two opposing pit-lanes for this event, which was a wonderful sight. This was made even better when the actual Frazer Nash Norris Special (inspiration car for Mark Underdown’s cyclekart) and the GN Thunderbug (inspiration car for Ian Fletcher’s GNasher cyclekart) turned up and lined up alongside their respective “Lilliput” Cyclekarts.
The VSCC cars were busy all day taking part in Autosolos and a Gymkhana, whilst the CKGB track buzzed all day with the Cyclekarts whizzing round. Later in the afternoon, the cyclekarts formed up two abreast and did a tour of the show which was spread over a very large area of the race-course. The VSCC were most welcoming and it was very pleasing how well the Cyclekarts were accepted by this prestigious club, the owners of the original inspiration cars, and also the visitors to the show.
Another welcome aspect was rummaging through the Autojumble and many members came away with new trinkets and tools.
